Music Monday: PS22 Tribute

The Oscars were on last night and I will have a post on the winners a little later, but since it is more about the movies, I thought for Music Monday, I'd pay a tribute to the PS22 choir who had the pleasure of attending the awards this year.

Here are some of my favorites from them:

Vampire Diaries--Season 2, Episode 16: "The House Guest"

We open up with Stefan and Elena being all lovey dovey while Elena protests to go back to that thing they call school. Damon attacks Elena thinking its Katherine and reveals that Katherine is out of the tomb to Elena.

Caroline talks with Matt about Tyler. Matt tells Caroline about Tyler’s goodbye to them. Matt tells Caroline to make up whether or not she wants to be with him or leave him alone.

Bonnie and Jeremy have a little rendezvous by Bonnie’s locker…making sure Elena doesn’t see of course! I love them right now!
Alaric tells Elena that unless he can be completely honest with Jenna, they’re done now.

Stefan tells Luka and his father that Elijah is dead. Stefan tells them that they know their plan to kill Klaus and offers a truce to help.

Katherine tells Damon that when a witch dies, they leave a mystical energy on where they live. Stefan reveals that if the witches can channel enough power, they won’t need a dagger. Hence, the burial ground Elijah was looking out in last week’s episode.

Elena, Bonnie, and Caroline (doppelganger, witch, and vampire) have a girls’ night! They talk Jenna into telling about how she felt about Alaric keeping things. She’s not happy of course!

Luka and his dad cast a spell to see into the Salvatore’s’ home. Luka goes off to see where Elijah is staying. Katherine goes down to the cooler where the blood is stored and senses something. Katherine sees the knife starting to pull out of Elijah’s body. She tries to keep the dagger in the chest, but is soon stabbed with a wooden stake by Luka. Damon comes in time and let’s Luka flame up! Luka’s father tries to save him, but sees he is too badly burned.

I guess its secret central because Caroline and Alaric come to turns that maybe keeping secrets isn’t the best thing for them, but it’s for the best for the ones they love. Caroline goes on stage after a band’s set and confesses that she still has feelings for Matt…with song. Wasn’t that bad, actually. And, it was ended with a lovely “Kiss the girl!” kiss.

Katherine reveals that she conspired with John Gilbert and said that only Stefan or Damon would live. She picked Stefan. Damon walks away, hurt in his own way.

Elena approves of Bonnie and Jeremy going out. Squee!
Jonas goes to the concert where he goes on a rampage to try and get Elena to help get his daughter back. He lights the building on fire. Matt tries to save Caroline, but gets stabbed with a glass bottle by Jonas. Caroline feeds Matt her blood and Katherine kills Jonas…or not. Ok, yes, he did.

Jeremy and Bonnie kiss for the second time! Bonnie touches Jeremy’s heart and sees she has her powers back…and that Jonas wants her to kill Klaus.

Damon rejects Katherine’s seducing! Love you right now too, Damon!

Caroline reveals to Matt that she’s a vampire. Matt remembers what Vicky said about vampires and accuses Caroline of doing something to her.

We end with Isabelle telling Jenna she’s Elena’s biological mother.

Review: I Am Number Four

Synopsis: Three are dead. He is Number Four. D.J. Caruso (“Eagle Eye,” “Disturbia”) helms an action-packed thriller about an extraordinary young man, John Smith (Alex Pettyfer), who is a fugitive on the run from ruthless enemies sent to destroy him. Changing his identity, moving from town to town with his guardian Henri (Timothy Olyphant), John is always the new kid with no ties to his past. In the small Ohio town he now calls home, John encounters unexpected, life-changing events—his first love (Dianna Agron), powerful new abilities and a connection to the others who share his incredible destiny. John (Alex Pettyfer) is an extraordinary young man, masking his true identity and passing as a typical student to elude a deadly enemy seeking to destroy him. Three like him have already been killed…he is Number Four. Source

Plot: This is probably the best movie of 2011 so far. It was based off a novel by Pittacus Lore. This is a different take on "aliens". I loved the setting of the movie; it was set about John being on the run from those who are sent out to kill him. They have already killed three and now they are on to him. It was very thrilling, I was definitely the only one who screamed at certain parts. There are very suspenseful parts where it keeps you waiting on the edge of your seat. By the ending of the movie, and by what my friend told me, there seems like there will be a seuqel. However, I thought that about Salt too and yet there has not been anymore talk about a sequel for that either. (Plus, Alex Pettyfer might be a little busy as the role for a certain hot Shadowhunter.)

Actors: Alex Pettyfer (John)-He is going to be a new up and coming actor. He is so versatile with his roles so far and he does an amazing job which each one. I loved him in this and can not wait to see more of him.
Dianna Agron (Sarah)-Dianna was beautiful in here. She has set herself apart from the Glee cast and has gave herself a nice push in her acting career. I can't wait to see more of her and she definitely has shown that she can do more than sing a note.

Poster: There isn't a whole lot you can do with a title like "I Am Number Four", so I can't eally criticize the artwork. However, if I hadn't seen the trailer, I probably wouldn't have seen it based on the poster.

Overall Rating: I give this movie a four out of four. The effects and cast were incredible. I'm honestly hoping that the actors and the movie get some MTV Movie Awards!

Music Monday: Panic At the Disco's New Song "The Ballad of Mona Lisa"

I was one of the many people who were PO'd that Panic At the Disco had split up. I knew that Brendon Urie and Spencer Smith stayed and Panic At the Disco still existed, but it wasn't the original four. Recently, I heard that Panic At the Disco was coming out with a new single and album. I was so excited to see if they still had their unique pop-rock sound and crazy Ringley Brothers theme. I watched when they premiered their new music video on MTV and fell in love with it. I decided to share it with you guys, it is a really great single and I can't wait to see Panic At the Disco's new album, Vices and Virtues, which is to release March 22, 2011.

February's ILYB Award Winner: Twilight, Travel, and Treats

twilightcupcake buttonI found this blog when I met Jenny from TwiMobile. She makes mobile blogs for all of her blogging friends and I found out that she had a blog of her own. I had to give her this month's award just by the title. She was writing about some of my favorite things: Twilight, traveling, and cupcakes! She has a very beautiful blog that is very eye-appealing. I love her recaps of her travels and seeing the pictures of her decorative treats. I recently had a Q&A with her:

How did you come up with the concept of Twilight, Travel, and Treats?I'd been lurking on Twitarded for a long time. They were incredibly funny and on occasion were the only thing to make me laugh during the course of a day. I found myself having some Twi related thoughts I just had to share and didn't think there would be anyone in my regular life that would want to hear it. Plus my husband started a travel blog. Hence I decided to start blogging as well. I felt guilty devoting my entire blog to Twilight because, at the time, I still focused a lot on baking and I just had to add some travel photos in. It just seemed to extreme to be "just" a twilight blogger - only a crazy fan would do that!

How did you become a part of the TwiCommunity?I used to lurk and occasionally comment on the Twitarded blog. Eventually I became friends with Dangrdafne after asking about her Italy pictures. The exact details of how I found myself in the community elude me. I must have commented on the Twitarded forums. I remember that 17foreverlisa, Dangrdafne, and Jelena were some of my first readers - thanks to those gals! Mrs. P was kind enough to let me enter her Twi-Bite challenge (go read it if you haven't before) even though I was a relative blogging newbie and I found many Twi friends like Twired Jen that way.

Where was your favorite place to travel to so far?Difficult one...I really love Hawaii. It's tropical but without the risk of disease. Is that too medical of me? I love that it's still North America but with a twist. Plus my good friend and Forks roomie Honolulu Girl from TrueBloodTwilight resides there :)
Tuscany comes a very close second. There's a moment where my husband and I are driving in our little convertible in the countryside watching the sunset. I have some "Pride and Prejudice" piano music going on in the background and it feels surreal - like "this is the ultimate moment we've been waiting for". I still get chills ;)

What is/was your dream place to travel to?I would love to travel to a remote island one day with my husband. White beaches, quiet surf, but with all the modern amenities. Doesn't matter to me quite where it is as long as it's air conditioned, has a modern kitchen, huge bathroom with multiple shower heads, and a white canopy bed out on the beach!

You say you love cupcakes. What is your favorite kind of cupcake? My cousin took me to Kara's cupcakes in San Francisco. I love their Chocolate Velvet - classic but not overly sweet for me (although I'm sure it is to some).

What do you think makes your blog unique from others? The travel and treats part ;) And I'm Canadian. Being in Vancouver I wish I had as many set stalking photos as Malicious Mandy but I don't have the time or the guts to go to those lengths.
I don't post often but I try and make sure that when I do that the content is rich and if someone is interested that it will be informative.

Do you have anything new coming to Twilight, Travels, and Treats for 2011?I've been debating whether or not to convert back into Reason being that my old Twilight, Travel, and Treats blog at still gets as many hits as the one on blogger that I'm currently using. And I haven't posted on Wordpress since August! is definitely better for search engine traffic.
I have a new layout planned if I convert back to Wordpress. Hence the debate because the new layout is hard to implement on blogger but it's a pretty silver theme.

Are there any traveling tips for the readers?Plan ahead! I am notoriously OCD about making lists and I think it has served me well. I don't plan all our excursions because that takes out too much of the fun and makes vacations feel like work. But I play hotels and flight months ahead if I can. I use a lot of tripadvisor (keeping in mind to read negative reviews because sometimes people deduct marks for inconsequential things) and priceline/hotwire. I also have been surfing the Mr. and Mrs. Smith travel site to see where I should dream of staying and then book directly with the hotel.

Do you make your own desserts? If so, what was the best thing you think you made?I don't make as many desserts as I'd like. My husband loves chocolate mousse so I make that for him. The most addictive thing that I make is a super gooey chocolate chunk chocolate cookie. My husband found the recipe and said "make me these please" and he made a good choice.

Can you tell the readers what your other blog, Twi-Mobile is about?I originally made some tutorials about how to read fanfiction on my iPhone and then about how to make a mobile version of a blog. Eventually I decided to move these to a separate blog so as not to annoy all the non-mobile people. Twi-Mobile has now grown into a much bigger entity than Twilight, Travel, and Treats. Last year I had 10,000 hits I think on Twi-Mobile. It's really supposed to be a headquarters for any Twilight surfer who loves to use their iPhones or other mobiles to surf. I've got over 70 of the Twilight blogs and sites that have mobile versions listed as affiliates plus wallpapers for mobiles and also a whole section on reading fanfic on mobiles and making a blog mobile friendly. It's quite a lot of info actually. Takes up more of my time now than anything else!

How are you able to make the wallpapers for iPads, iPhones, etc?I use a Photoshop template that has the iPad or iPhone dimensions and blocked out areas already built into the layers. It makes it easier to design when I know where the clock or unlock bar will be. It is much better for making iPad wallpapers that will work in landscape or portrait mode. It's a real pain sometimes to get those right though. Most wallpapers out there don't care and assume you're using landscape so I may have to eventually cave and just go with the status quo.

How can blogs have their blogs mobile by you?I've got a whole section devoted to that at Twi-Mobile. If anyone has trouble figuring it out of course they can email me at twimobile (at) gmail (dot) com.

What is your favorite thing about blogging? Worse? The best? I love that I have an outlet for my Twilight craziness which is relatively hidden from my real life. It's also given me a place to be creative. Until I started this blog the only time I ever wrote was in scientific reports. Not a single creative word since first year English. It's nice to discover another side of yourself that you either thought was dead or never knew existed.
The worst? Feeling pressure to post. I have resigned myself to my follower number and now that Twi-Mobile gets good traffic I don't stress about readership for my regular blog. I'm just glad to have a place to discuss my Twilight obsession.

What have you learned from in the blogging world? That although online life can be dangerous the world of penpals is still alive. Just in a different format. There's a reason that our mothers used to have penpals back in the day. There is a whole community of wonderful, strong, intelligent, and caring women that I never knew existed until I started blogging. For anyone who is introverted and self-critical it is a surprisingly easy and refreshing way to express yourself.

Do you have any blogging tips for upcoming/new bloggers?
Don't try to be anyone else. It's too hard. Write what you know and don't worry about readership numbers. The whole point of this thing is to express yourself and have an outlet - if you stress about followers it becomes too much like work!

Please visit Jenny's two blogs! They are stunning and amazing!

Here is Beth Fantaskey's cover to her sequel, Jessica Rules the Dark Side:
It is stunning! I love Beth's covers! Here is the synopsis Beth released on her Facebook:

Now, married to Prince Lucius Vladescu, she has to claim her throne and convince a vampire nation she’s fit to be their queen. Vampire Diaries--Season 2, Episode 15: "Dinner Party"

We begin the episode back at the Gilberts' lake house where Elena reads Jonathan Gilbert's journal. The episode flashes back to the days Jonathan Gilbert was alive and we see a ferocious vampire killing two of the Fells. We see that the ferocious vampire is none other than Stefan. We go back to Elena where she sees Stefan out by the lake. Mmm....romantic.
Stefan then goes on to tell Elena that he was a monster and that it was easy for him to kill because there was a war during the time. He didn't stop until Lexi, his best friend, showed him love and humanity. He asks Elena to do the same and not give up on her life, but fight for it.

We see Jenna showing Elijah old witch grounds he is looking to buy, I'm guessing. Alaric shows up to make sure Jenna is not hurt. At the Mystic Grill, Elijah runs into Damon and Alaric. Damon's girlfriend mentions that they should have a dinner party and Damon happily invites Elijah.
At the dinner party, Damon prepares a stake with ashwood. He tells Alaric he will kill Elijah. Once Elijah arrives, Elijah warns Damon of his promise to Elena and that is that if Damon tries to kill him, he will kill everyone in the house: Damon, Alaric, Jenna, and Damon's girlfriend.

In Jonathan's journal, it says that if a vampire were to kill an Original with a dagger and take it out, they die as well. It becomes prevelant that John Gilbert (Elena's biological dad) wanted Damon to kill Elijah because then he would die too. Stefan calls Damon to warn him, but Alaric picks up. Alaric then warns Damon of what will happen. Alaric takes it upon himself to kill Elijah and stabs him with the dagger. They take the body outside, but Elijah's body disappears. Elena reads in the journal that to really kill an Original, you must not remove the dagger or the Original will come back to life.

Elijah goes to Jonas and asks where Elena is. Jonas realizes what Bonnie had done to his son and goes to Jeremy's house where he and Bonnie are practicing spells. Jonas pins Jeremy to the wall and takes Bonnie's powers away.
John convinces Alaric to give him his ring when Jenna starts questioning Alaric about Isobel.

Elijah appears at the Gilberts' lake house and tells Elena that their deal is off and threatens that even though he is not invited in, he will wait them out. Elena tells him to renegoiate or else she'll stab herself, have Stefan feed her his blood, and then kill herself like Katherine had done to become a vampire. Once she is a vampire, she is longer no use to Elijah. Elijah calls her bluff and Elena stabs herself. Elijah gives his word and begs for her to let him heal her. She falls into his arms and stabs him with the dagger. He falls to the ground, dead. Stefan and Damon appear and look at the now dead, Elijah. They drag him to the basement and Elena tells the guys that they need to start doing things her way if she is going to fight. They both agree.

Damon finds Katherine in his shower. The compulsion to stay in the tomb wore off with Elijah's death. She says that she will stay to help protect Elena.

Tell me what you think of this week's episode!

Review: Jekel Loves Hyde by Beth Fantaskey

Synopsis: Jill Jekel has always obeyed her parents rules;especially the one about never opening the mysterious, old box in her father's office. But when her dad is murdered, and her college savings disappear, she's tempted to peek inside, as the contents might be the key to a lucrative chemistry scholarship.

To improve her odds, Jill enlists the help of gorgeous, brooding Tristen Hyde, who has his own dark secrets locked away. As the team of Jekel and Hyde, they recreate experiments based on the classic novel, hoping not only to win a prize, but to save Tristen's sanity. Maybe his life. But Jill's accidental taste of a formula unleashes her darkest nature and compels her to risk everything, even Tristen's love just for the thrill of being . . . bad. Source
Plot: I am a huge fan of Beth Fantaskey, so I was excited when I got my hands on JLH finally. I'm glad I got the chance to take a break from the UF and paranormal world for awhile, and Jekel Loves Hyde was an amazing read. I loved the book because it was a great romantic adaption of the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde story. I was scared to see Jill's bad side, I automatically knew it would be something with her being more..."easy". When I read her on her "Hyde" side, she was "easy", but she used it to help her kill. It was kind of interesting to see Tristen because at some points, you thought he had a mental illness but you also knew there was something more to it. The most interesting part of the book had to be that it was two characters instead of one. Usually with the Jekyll and Hyde story, it's just one person going through it. This book shows one person trying to save the other, but it happens to both of them. I liked it because both characters were the victims and the heroes.
Characters: Jill-I liked Jill in the aspect of a strong and brave heroin. Jill was sort of the stereotypical smart girl: glasses, loves chemistry, and is lonely. However, I did like that she was sort of stereotypical because Dr. Jekyll was a scientist and you couldn't have a Jekel that went to parties every weekend and wore short skirts or else when she did change, you couldn't see a difference.
Tristen-Thank you, Beth, for making this boy British. I love British boys and their accents, so Tristen had my vote from the very beginning. He was different from other romantic interests because he was so distant with Jill, but not... He wold share his deep feelings about how he felt about the "beast" inside of him with Jill, but keep some things from her. He was very sweet though and I almost melted when he called Jill "beautiful" or "dear". If I was her, I would have toppled over every time his British behind said those things.
Cover: This cover is absolutely stunning. The only thing I wanted was to see Tristen's face. I've noticed that the protagonists (Jill and Jessica from Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side) have their face shown, but you only see the guys' body. I like that she kind has her own trademark. Now when I see that kind of thing, I'll think of Beth Fantaskey. But,Tristen, please show me your face!
Overall Rating: I give this book a four! It was amazing, I love Beth Fantaskey's stuff. The ending to this book was a nice happily ever after. I am kind of hoping Beth has a sequel to this because I feel like stuff is just beginning between Jill and Tristen. Usually when I wish, there is no sequel...but I can only hope. If you have read this and liked it...please read Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side, it is absolutely amazing and I am so ready for the sequel. You can read Jessica's and Lucius' wedding here.

"Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate . . . until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she could focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she has ever known and a path no one else has dared to follow."
The story Matched captivated me instantly. I would find myself picking it up before I was finished with my other books just so I could find out what happened. I loved it! Cassia, is a strong, level-headed girl. She is a great role-model for everyone. She knows what she wants, but knows when to give in, at least a little. Xander, Cassia's best friend, is super smart, competitive, and cares about Cassia. Ky, an outsider, is mysterious and completely true to himself. I love him, and it's kind of funny, seeing as know someone with his exact name.
I picked it up before I should have and didn't care. I read through the whole thing in about a day and cannot wait for the next. Unfortunately, the next book, Crossed, doesn't come out until Nov. 1st. If you read this book, which I highly recommend, you will be dying to read the next one. Dying. I can't say I like the ending, but as long as there are many more books, I will be happy. I give this book a 4/4 without any debate. If I could, I would give it a five. Best book ever!

Vampire Diaries--Season 2, Episode 14: "Crying Wolf"

I'm still getting over the twists and turns of this episode. But, I am here for you guys to recap on this week's episode!

We start off with Elena waking up from her awesome sleepover with Caroline and Bonnie. She tells Stefan that they should get away from the all the chaos. He agrees and they get ready to leave for the Gilbert's cabin. When they reach the cabin, Elena remembers that the last time she was there, she was with her parents. She assures Stefan she's OK and they head inside, even though they have no idea that Brady and Tyler have followed them.
Tyler learns the sun and moon curse. If you don't know, it was a curse on vampires and werewolves. Vampires have to walk in the night and werewolves will always change during a full moon. If the vampires have the moonstone, they can fix the curse on them, but the werewolves will still change during full moons. If the werewolves recieve the moonstone, then the vampires are forced to be nightwalkers and the werewolves can change at will, which also means they don't have to change at all.
Jenna is starting to worry that Alaric isn't being honest. Damon attends a tea where the guest of honor is Elijah. Damon tries to speak with him, but doesn't get any answers. He gets himself stabbed in the neck along the way as well.

At the Mystic Grill, Bonnie drugs Luka and takes him to a Circle. She goes to drastic measures and magic to recieve answers from him. Luka reveals that Elena made a deal with Elijah to make sure that her loved ones were safe...not her.

Damon is tortured by Jules and a few of her werewolf buddies. Elijah essentially saves him (killing all of the werewolves) and notes that that is the third time he has saved him. They realize Jules has ran for her life, but don't really care. At the Gilbert's cabin, Brady tries to attack Elena, but is killed by Stefan. Stefan reveals the reason why Brady needs Elena to Tyler and Tyler apologizes to Elena that he didn't know they were going to kill her.
Here's my favorite part....BONNIE AND JEREMY KISS! Bonnie finally reveals her feelings to Jeremy and they kissed! My heart sang more than Bonnie's! Finally, these two can start the relationship thing because I am waiting for it!

Tyler goes to Matt and tells him nothing is going on and that Caroline loves him. He leaves Mystic Falls with Jules, who is single now.

Tell me what you thought of this week's episode!

Review: The Roommate (Rated PG-13)

Synopsis: An emotionally unstable college freshman (Leighton Meester) grows obsessed with her unsuspecting roommate in Danish director Christian E. Christiansen's English-language debut. Source

Plot: I will say that I was iffy with this movie because I've seen the plot before. The crazy roommate that wants to become like the other or be the only one's friend. It's always a girl and she's always crazy. This movie does not disappoint with the craziness! You see it in the first half hour of the movie! It seemed like the craziness would never stop...and that is a good thing. However, I've seen this kind of thing before, which made most of the antics predictable.

Actors: Leighton Meester (Rebecca)-Meester is definitely on her way for future roles. She scared me *excuse my language* shitless. All her stalker stares and actions were...oh my gosh! I can't even explain some of the craziness she did. She played the part very well, which I would have never guessed coming from her.
Minka Kelly (Sara Matthews)-Kelly was great. She was good when she had to play the clueless roommate. But, it was a nice breakout role for her. I loved her during the climax of the movie. She didn't play the victim, but the hero.

Poster: I will be honest...not a fan of the poster. It doesn't draw me in, it seems like something from the late 90s, early 2000s. However, Meester's expression scared the crap out of me.

Overall Rating: I give this movie a two out of four. The acting was good, but I need originality and you can not top Fatal Attraction!

Review: Shadowland (The Immortals #3) by Alyson Noël

Synopsis: At the start of this breathtaking novel, Damen and Ever travel to Summerland in search of an antidote to reverse a powerful poison. But instead of the cure they seek, they find something far more sinister: the truth about their existence and the fate lying in wait of an immortal’s soul.

Now, with Damen fighting to save them from the Shadowland, Ever turns to magick, hoping to break Damen’s curse. Along the way Ever encounters the mysterious Jude, finding herself drawn to him in a way that will test her love for Damen like never before . . .

Plot: A nice continuation to the series. I'm glad that the series is not jumping from one problem to the next as I thought it might be. Ever and Damen aren't able to touch or kiss each other still, which makes the romance a verbal thing. That isn't a bad thing at all, I love Damen's little whispers of endearment to Ever. However, this one seemed to have dragged. I didn't like the endless cycle Ever and Roman would do. Roman would talk about a riddle he had and Ever still kept trying to solve it. I did like the trips to Summerland, they seemed to bring more insight into Ever's past and secrets Damen had kept. But, in the end, Roman is like a virus and never just stops! That does make things interesting though, but it doesn't stop me from hating him.

Characters: Ever-Again, I loved Ever because she always keeps trying. No matter what, she knows what she wants, even if there are obstacles getting in her way. It seemed like she was more determined for her and Damen to be together than Damen was. However, I wish that she was more loving and honest with Miles and Haven, it seems like she loves them but doesn't share with them anything while they always do with her.
Damen-I wanted to see more of Damen, he was out of the book more than usual. Even in Blue Moon, he was in the book, just not the way we would have liked. It seemed like he was more a stranger in here. I did love when he was in the scenes though, and couldn't help but love when he was getting jealous. It was too cute!
Roman-Hate him! Which is a good thing, if an author is able to make me hate an evil character than they're doing a great job. I wish he would just move along. The boy needs to get a life and move on from Drina. And, I hated his little perv comments to Ever. I hope Ever deals with him soon!
Jude-I hope Jude is in the next few books. He is a good character and I feel like we didn't get to really know him because Ever didn't want to and it was in her POV. I hope that I do get to know him because he seems genuine and he doesn't seem like a bad guy.

Cover: I love the series' covers. This one truly fits with the book like the others do with theirs. I can't say why Ever has he crystals without spoiling, but they fit the theme of this book. However, I was thinking that showing a certain book that is continuously mentioned in Shadowland might have been better.

Overall Rating: I give this book a three out of four. It was a nice continuation, but it was dragging in some parts. Hopefully, Dark Flame will pick up from Shadowland and answer my questions!

Review: Bad Blood (Blood Coven #4) by Mari Mancusi

Synopsis: Sunny McDonald is in the ultimate forbidden relationship. Her boyfriend Magnus is a vampire, and the leader of the Blood Coven. And when the Coven decides that Magnus needs a mate to be his co-ruler, Sunny's humanity puts her out of the running. The Coven's chosen candidate is Jane Johnson, a magna cum laude graduate of Oxford University who just happens to look like a vampiric supermodel.
Sunny is suspicious of a Rhodes Scholar who can't answer the most basic poli-sci questions, but Magnus brushes it off as petty jealousy. Still, when the Blood Coven goes to Las Vegas for a vampire convention, Sunny and her twin sister Rayne secretly tag along. And Sunny's not going home before she learns the truth about Jane. Because not everything stays in Vegas-especially bad blood. Source

Plot: I haven't gotten back to the series for awhile, so when I saw it on the shelf, I grabbed it before anyone could take it. I was absolutely glad I did because this series continues to not disappoint. When I saw that it was in Sunny's view, I wasn't sure I was going to like it because I was so used to reading Rayne's POV. However, I did like Sunny's view because it was nice to see a human's POV in a vampire series that doesn't want to be a vampire, but feels in some situations that she was when she was battling against vampires. Her name does explain her, she finds the good in people and is determined to make her and Magnus' relationship bright up despite what is happening. I will say that I didn't like the constant "likes" and the "totallys" and all the teenage lingo. I'm a teenager, but I don't like when an author tries to make up lingo for their characters. We don't all talk like that. I haven't heard anyone talk in text for a few years now. But, I did like the plot and Sunny's view really made things interesting, including when she branches off to the theater where she meets a cast playing Bram Stoker's 'Dracula'.

Characters: Sunny-Sunny was a great character for this installment. I couldn't help but be drawn into her and Magnus' relationship. It was refreshing to see that she didn't want to be a vampire, but she also didn't want to be old and wrinkled while Magnus was still young. Sunny was great at finding the good at people and knowing when something was going on.
Rayne-I will admit, I was kind of disappointed in Rayne this time around. She kept bailing on her own sister to gamble, what? I wasn't too fond when I read Rayne coming in the scene. She only seemed to care if what she had to do would benefit her. By the end, I did warm up to her and saw what I usually love in Rayne, but I thought it was pitiful that I had to wait until after everything transpired to see the good in Rayne.
Magnus-Magnus was....oh, I honestly don't know. I loved him most of the time, but some things he said to Sunny, I gaped at. I did love how sweet and romantic he was when he talked about his love for Sunny. But, I couldn't stand him when he didn't believe Sunny or at least give her a chance to explain anything. He rather side with someone he barely knows than the girl he loves.
Jayden-Oh, you will love Jayden! I surely did. I can't give away too much without revealing spoilers, but he will definitely be in the series more and I am so glad. He is romantic and the sweetest guy! I loved when him and Sunny would hang out. I know some people would probably hate him, but I can't wait to see how his and Sunny's relationship develops.

Cover: I loved the cover on this. I was used to the old covers from the previous books, but these are stunning. I don't know who the cover is suppose to be of, maybe Sunny (even though she has blonde hair) or Jane. But, the cover is lovely, as well as the others.

Overall Rating: I give this book a three out of four. I love this series and can not wait to read Night School, but the lingo really gets to me. The characters made the book though and I would love to read more in Sunny's POV.

Vampire Diaries--Season 2, Episode 13: "Daddy Issues"

We saw in the last episode that Tyler finds out that there are more vampires than just Caroline. This episode, we see Tyler confront Caroline about Mason's death. Tyler is angry because Caroline kept Mason's death a secret from him. Jenna is angry when she finds out that John Gilbert is Elena's biological father. Jules, a "evil" werewolf, meets up with her feisty wolf lover, Brady, and tells him she wants to leave with Tyler and run.

Caroline is taken hostage by Jules after she is sprayed with vervain, while Stefan is trying to reason with Tyler. Jules calls Stefan and tells him to bring Tyler in exchange for Caroline. Stefan tells Elena to brief Damon on the situation and Damon tells John to watch Elena. Elena and John have a talk and Elena makes it apparent that John might be her dad, but she is not her daughter. Stefan goes to Brady's RV where they are keeping Caroline with Tyler in tow. Damon shows up just in the knick of time. Jules calls out her wolf friends to attack, but they are no match for Stefan and Damon. Damon and Stefan take out a good chunk of the werewolves.

Tyler finds Caroline in a cage and reluctantly releases her. She runs out and is caught by Jules. Damon and Stefan are about to be stake, while Tyler just stares at Caroline. Jonas appears on Elijah's behalf and causes the werewolves to hhear a high pitch sound. Jonas tells Tyler to tell his friends to get "the hell of out of town". Tyler tries to apologize to Caroline, but she quickly declines and tells him they are never friends.

Later, Matt calls Caroline and asks to hang out. She lies and says she's with Bonnie, but Matt quickly sees Bonnie with Jeremy. Is anyone else giddy over at?

Tyler tells Brady and Jules that Mason might have been looking for the moonstone. They ask where the moonstone is, but Tyler does not know.

Damon tries to find out why John Gilbert is in Mystic Falls, but John says that he is there to protect Elena. John later reveals that the only way to kill an Original is to dip a dagger in white ashwood that dates back to the time the Originals...originated. John is then shown revealing his true slimy self and is in the tomb working with Katherine to get her out.

Tell me what you think of last week's episode!

Book Blogger Hop: 2/4-2/7

Book Blogger Hop
This is my first Book Blogger Hop (Crazy For Books) for 2011! I didn't have a chance to do them so far and finally since the ice is still stuck to the ground, I'm out for school and catching up on my blogging!

This week's question is:
What are you reading now and why are you reading it?

My Answer: Right now I'm reading, In Company of Vampires by Katie MacAlister. I loved the two books that were before it, Got Fangs? and Circus of the Darned, which were under Katie MacAlister's YA identity, Katie Maxwell. They were so inventive and intense, I was craving for another installment of the Fran and Ben love story. I have to say that I'm glad that this story isn't YA, it seems like Katie was holding some material back because it was under YA. I'm glad that she collided her other books with this one in a way. I love Katie MacAlister and how she creates this whole new Immortal world for us. I'm reading this to go on with the series and sees what happens with Ben and Fran. Plus, I needed my vampire fill, I missed my Vampire Kisses, Vampire Academy, etc and Vampire Diaries has not quite done it's full job yet.

Tell me what you're reading and why! I'll add everyone who comments and follows to our Book Blogger Buddy List.

Here are the three blogs I visited that I love!: Bon Bons and Reveries, Live...Laugh...Love...and READ, Urban Fantasy Investigations

Wanted Wednesdays: Captivate (Need #2) by Carrie Jones

This Wanted Wednesday is probably one of the first that is over a sequel to a series. I have read Need, the first book in the series by Carrie Jones. It was absolutely amazing and I wanted to get Captivate, but it seemed like sequels always disappear from my library.

I want to read this book because I miss the little pixie world. Don't get me wrong, I still crave for my vampires and werewolves, but I like to indulge in the pixie and faerie world from time to time. I loved this series, it was one of the first series where I was exposed to the pixie world. I never really found any pixie book or known a lot about them, so this one was very interesting to read. I can't wait to finally get my hands on this series and get to see how Zara's and Nick's relationship develops.

Here is the summary to Captivate:
Zara and her friends knew they hadn't solved the pixie problem for good. Far from it. The king's needs grow deeper every day he's stuck in captivity, while his control over his people gets weaker. It's made him vulnerable. And now there's a new king in town.

A turf war is imminent, since the new pixie king, Astley, is moving in quickly. Nick nearly killed him in the woods on day one, but Zara came to his rescue. Astley swears that he and Zara are destined to be together, that he's one of the good guys. Nick isn't buying it, though Zara isn't as sure -- despite herself, she wants to trust the new king. But it's a lot more than her relationship with Nick that is at stake. It's her life -- and his. Source

Tell me what you think about the Need series and Captivate if you got the chance read it already!

Review: Sisters Red (Sisters Red #1) by Jackson Pearce

Synopsis: Scarlett March lives to hunt the Fenris– the werewolves that took her eye when she was defending her sister Rosie from a brutal attack. Armed with a razor-sharp hatchet and blood-red cloak, Scarlett is an expert at luring and slaying the wolves. She’s determined to protect other young girls from a grisly death, and her raging heart will not rest until every single wolf is dead.

Rosie March once felt her bond with her sister was unbreakable. Owing Scarlett her life, Rosie hunts fiercely alongside her. Now Rosie dreams of a life beyond the wolves and finds herself drawn to Silas, a young woodsman who is deadly with an ax– but loving him means betraying her sister and has the potential to destroy all they’ve worked for.

Twenty-five-year-old Jackson Pearce delivers a dark, taut fairy tale with heart-pounding action, fierce sisterly love, and a romance that will leave readers breathless. Source

Plot: I wanted to take some time out from my book challenges, so I picked up this book when I saw that many other book blogs have reviewed it. I am a sucker for a good retell on classics...when they're done right. I have to say that I loved Sisters Red. It was a nice refreshing take on an age old classic. I loved how instead of the main character being just one person, it was two sisters. Not only were they sisters, but they talk throughout the book of having the same heart. I loved that type of metaphor, but it did seem like that fact got in the way of both of them. The book is told in both Rosie and Scarlett point of views. I have to say that I preferred Rosie's point of views because she had outside interests and more emotions. She started to fall for Silas and she wanted a life outside of just hunting Fenris (like werewolves). It was nice to see that she didn't want to disappoint or hurt her sister, but she didn't want to deny that she wanted something more. Scarlett's chapters were harder to read because they honestly all about hunting. I understood it was her passion, but I was sort of thankful when Rosie chapters would come around because I could kind of take a break from hunting. I did, however, like that you saw the differences between someone who loves hunting and someone who feels that they are binded to hunting.

Characters: Scarlett-I liked Scarlett. She was a nice character to provide the motherly and protective half of the two sisters. She is tied to hunting willingly, but wishes that she could have a normal life. But, with all of her scars and bites, she knows she could never have a normal life.
Rosie-Rosie wants that normal life back. She wants to go to school and do things that interest her. I loved her most when she was struggling between her love for Silas and her love for her sister. She doesn't want to disappoint her sister by disliking to hunt day in and day out, but she wants to have a life and show her feelings for Silas.
Silas-I liked Silas for the most part. He was hesitant to make a relationship with Rosie, but wanted to for the most part. He also wanted a life outside of hunting and wasn't afraid to tell Scarlett that. I will say without giving out any spoilers that I was pissed with Silas at one point. He cheated on Rosie...well, in a way, he cheated on her. I won't say when, but you will know the part I was talking about.

Cover: I loved the cover to this. It was creative to connect the girls' hair with the wolf. It was beautifully done and I loved how simple the cover is, but each color and design are very well pronounced.

Overall Rating: I give this book a four out of four because it was a great retelling of an old classic and I do recommend who love Little Red Riding Hood or want to see Red Riding Hood movie that comes out in March, please read this book. There is a sequel coming out. There is no set date or title, but Little Brown has made a deal with Pearce for a sequel!

"'I don't love Sonny Flannery.'
That's the lie Kelly Winslow told to protect the boy she loves from a power he doesn't know he possesses. Devastated, Sonny retreats- to a haven for Lost Fae that's hidden deep underneath New York City. But Kelley's not about to let things end in heartbreak. To get Sonny back, she's got to find out who's after his magick- and how to use her own. She's got to uncover who's recruiting Janus Guards to murderously hunt innocent Faerie. She's got to help rebuild the shattered theater company she called family. And she's got to do it all without getting dangerously distracted by the Fennrys Wolf, who's legendary heart of stone seems to melt whenever he's around Kelley. The intrigue and romance that began with Wonderous Strange and Darklight come to a stormy head in Tempestuous, the breathtaking conclusion to Lesley Livingston's ravishing urban Faerie trilogy."
If it were me, I would put CONCLUSION in bold. When I started reading this, all the way until I finished it, I had no idea this would be the last we hear from Kelley and Sonny. In a way, it's saddening to think of it. But as Alisha says "all good things must come to an end."
It starts off from where the last one left off. Kelley pulls an Edward, saying she didn't love Sonny for his safety. Sonny, of course, over-hearing this, is heart-broken and leaves. Kelley, feels the full weight of what she said, and wishes she didn't. The whole time I'm thinking "both of you, suck it up, talk it over, and fight this thing together!" I was highly frustrated. This book leads into more about Auberon, and even Mahb's dying state. You even see how much like her mother, Kelley really becomes.
I would have to say, this book gets a 3/4. I loved the plot, and am horribly sad it's over, but it was little confused and a tiny bit on the boring side. If I had known it would be the last, I wouldn't have skimmed, but seeing as it was a little uneventful, I did. Loved it, and am totally sad to see it go. I have no idea what she would write anything about, but I wish she would! If you can get past some of the boring spots, it's an awesome book.
